Managing Stress
While plenty of rest and relaxation is essential for our bodies to function, sometimes it's hard to find the time.
Stress is common in daily life—often associated with work, family and personal relationships, a lot of us are over-worked and under pressure.
Whatever the cause, here are 10 simple steps to reduce the stress levels in your day to day life:
- Spend less time worrying and find time to do things you enjoy—reading, meeting up with friends, gardening or listening to music can help you relax.
- Major life changes can make you anxious. Try to postponing major decisions (like moving house and changing jobs) to a time when you are less stressed, feeling better about being in a position to make choices.
- Control your work load: create a balance between your work and what you enjoy.
- Avoid unreasonable deadlines & minimize repetitive tasks at work.
- Get colleagues and family members to help with big tasks.
- Make sure you are getting enough rest, relaxation and exercise.
- Take time out to be with family or pet.
- Regular exercise helps reduce tension—relaxing your muscles and your mind! Make time to go for a walk, swim, jog or take a gym class.
- Learn some simple relaxation and breathing exercises at home and at work: slow breathing exercises can help you stay calm in a stressful situation.
- Seek help: Talking to a friend, doctor or counselor can help reduce stress.
As nature intended.
Make healthy living and getting 'back to natural' part of your daily habit.
