Stevia Rebaudiana Bertoni (commonly called Stevia) is a member of the Chrysanthemum plant family. Stevia is a natural herbal sweetener that contains several non-caloric glycosides, the sweetest components of the Stevia leaf. The main glycosides derived from the plant are Stevioside and Rebaudioside A. These natural sweeteners are up to 200 times sweeter than sugar.
Stevia is native to northeast Paraguay where the plant grows naturally, untouched, unaltered and with all its natural characteristics. Growing Stevia in its natural environment gives our ingredient customers a sweetener from its original source. Called ka’a he’e (sweet herb) in Guarani, the indigenous language of Paraguay, the Stevia leaf has been used as a sweetener for hundreds of years.

Safety
Stevia has a long history of use as a sweetener. More than a hundred independent studies were conducted worldwide on Stevia leaves and Stevia extracts to determine the potential toxicity of this plant.
In June 2008, Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA) concluded that Stevia extracts containing 95 percent Steviol Glycosides are safe for human use in the range of four milligrams per kilogram of body weight per day(equivalent to 12 mg/kg/bw per day of Reb A). Nativia Guarani produces and sells extracts that meet this standard.
Manufacturing Site:
Nativia Guarani site is located in Luque, Paraguay. Nativia GuaranĂ and its primary supplier and strategic partner, Imperio Guarani, are involved in each step of production from plant seedlings to extraction, purification and packaging. This allows us to ensure the highest quality natural product.
Once the Stevia leaves have been milled, we use freshwater and natural materials to extract and purify the sweet compounds from the leaves.
Our Manufacturing Plant follows rigorous management practices and follows the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), applying Quality Management Systems to meet international standards.
